GAFE - 2017
What?
During the holidays I attended the EdTechTeam Auckland Summit Featuring Google for Education at Aorere College. This lasted for 2 days and consisted of several key note speakers and a wide variety of sessions that you could attend.

So what?
Technology is changing all the time and we need to keep up to date as our students embrace this technology. Working at a 'Google' school where my students are 1 to 1 with devices I need to make sure I can use technology to enhance my teaching practice.
By attending this Summit I was able to show my commitment to ongoing learning and development of professional practice. I also attended with colleagues which made it great to bounce ideas off. Not only were you learning from the 'experts' at the sessions but you could learn off each other and come up with ways to implement changes into not only yours, but other teachers who did not attend programs.
Now what?
I am going to go over my session notes and use some of the tools in my everyday teaching. Over term 2 I would like to use at least 3 new tools that help save time and motivate students. I would also (and have started) sharing ideas with teachers who were not present as I can see how some of the tools could benefit them. I have also been working with one of my DPs to help develop a blog template to show PTC.
I think in attending this I have evidence against:
Criteria PTC4
Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional learning and development of personal professional practice
Key Indicators:
i. identify professional learning goals in consultation with colleagues
ii. participate responsively in professional learning opportunities within the learning community
iii. initiate learning opportunities to advance personal professional knowledge and skills
Criteria PTC5
Show leadership that contributes to effective teaching and learning
Key Indicators:
i. actively contribute to the professional learning community
ii. undertake areas of responsibility effectively
